Q: Does Russ Still Have The Shop In Gulf Gate?
A: No, I was in a bad car accident while test driving a customers car, And old lady T-Boned me on US41 When I was going 45 MPH right into my drivers door. As I tried to initially maintain function part-time, there was no way I could afford to continue operations on a commercial level. And my injuries where not all obvious at first and issues started to become apparent and I became functionally disabled. ~ Thus the commercial shop did not survive
Q: Where Is Russ Fixing Cars?
A: I am working from home, I have built a nice little shop outfit in my back of my property. I have a large lot and have plenty of room. I kept all my tools and specialty equipment and have most of the capabilities of my old shop less any vehicle lifts.
Q: What type of repairs are you able to do?
A: Well, I am still testing and adapting to my resources to determine my full capabilities. But I'm able to do "most" anything I was doing at the shop. However my physical limitations from injuries are my main obstacle at this point. As I get stronger and more confident with my body, I keep testing myself but need to be careful not to overdue things and cause harm. I am getting stronger every day, and being disabled for 5+ years causes you to lose a lot of muscle. And mechanics need to be quite flexible and operate in weird and tight places, which is the hardest thing to re-adapt to. So I would confidently say, that I'm able to do pretty much all the smaller jobs as before. But I can say that I can not do heavy mechanical repairs. For example things I am UNABLE to do will be :
Major engine work, transmission work,drive-train repairs, axles, CV Axles, heavy suspension, Manual Trans Clutchesand anything that would require a lift.Jobs I AM able to do well are: All maintenance, including tune up, drivability, electronics, coils, timing belts, water pumps, air conditioning, window motors, belts, brakes, ABS system, Key programming^most^, cooling system,Computer control, Some oil leak issues, some wheel bearings, minor suspension like shocks, some struts, most basic common repairs.
Q: How do I get My Car Fixed?
A: I am able to work on one Neighbor's Car At a time. Unless there is an emergency and your car is not drive-able. I am "slower" than a retail shop (for obvious reasons). However I can arrange and get you a good corporate rate on a rental car, many times for as low as $300/week. Just Contact me and we can discuss what options we have and a timeline to get your car fixed! I may have you drive by to do a visual and OBD2 computer scan to do a preliminary diagnosis to access your needs.
